All Minecraft fans, as well as uncertain or curious parents, will find this book informative, encouraging and entertaining. It’s a celebration of Minecraft by a Grandma who realises that the game has much to offer to her grandson and his friends. Her efforts to join them in the varied activities are comic – particularly her First Day and her visit to The End. Every poem is a commentary on the educational value offered by this game. Grandma’s evidently impressed and the boys clearly love teaching her.
As a teacher, I found the book well written and fascinating from beginning to end - it taught me a lot about the merits and potential of such an educational game, at the same time as making me smile... Highly recommended.

A Book Of Poems About Minecraft

This book of poems is written by a Grandma who recognised the educational value of Minecraft and enjoyed playing the game with her grandson and his friends, though she obviously can't tell the difference between a Zombie and a sheep. Very funny when Grandma enters the End.

5.0 out of 5 starsAn 'educational' read!

As a Headteacher myself, this book had me smiling. I completely identified with the author's tone of bemusement and recognised the children's joy as they were totally absorbed in their flights of imagination. I laughed out loud at times. I marvelled at the depth of language used by the grandson Matt and his friends. It was encouraging to see how much the children were learning through their play and how patient they were as teachers to the grandma figure. It was lovely to feel the warmth of the relationship between grandma and grandson and the acknowledgement of the importance of adventure whether it be through climbing trees or playing Minecraft - there is a place for all interests.

Format: Paperback

An inspirational collection of poems that remind me of the great value of entering the online world of modern children to understand the meaning and pleasure they find there. Here we have Grandma learning to play Minecraft and having her Head-Teachery preconceptions of computer gaming blown away by the rich vocabulary and fabulous development of life-skills demonstrated by Grandson Matt and his friends. This little book is the epitome of that old adage: if you can't beat them - join them... Then you'll see Grandma beat them... almost!
